Puente Hills , 2001
Oil, acrylic on canvas
36 x 24 in.
I am fascinated by the dynamics of life and how we, and our memories swirl and overlap each other. This is a ripe foundation for a new psychological terra firma since these separate parts now become the whole. Like different countries making up a continent.
In this painting, I decided to represent that 'swirling' as something pleasant and fashionable. The title came from a Los Angeles suburb I travelled to once. I used it at random like beauty finding an innocent observer at a street corner.
