Kimye, 2021
Acrylic, enamel, resin on canvas
19 x 22 in.
This is from my Drop Dot series.
I squeeze drops of acrylic onto a canvas at my feet below, to simulate the gathering of pixels that forms an image which our eye naturally performs to see.
In this painting series, I give space between such pixels for us to consider the relationships of micro/macro objects in space.
Despite the best intentions of any relationship onset, unplanned occurrences can arise. Here, I objectified a relationship between Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. What was organized and thoughtful, has now become muddy and distant.
A meditation on the fabric of union, especially under the intense, spectacular lens of celebrity.
